Lasha Talakhadze – Georgian Weightlifter, Olympic Champion

Lasha Talakhadze is associated with many achievements in weightlifting. The weightlifter from Georgia is a two-time Olympic champion, five-time world champion, and five-time European champion. Lasha Talakhadze is a world record holder in the snatch (225 kg), the clean and jerk (267 kg) and the total (492 kg). It is worth emphasizing that all three records are the highest in the history of world records in weightlifting.

Lasha Talakhadze is awarded the Order of Honor and the Presidential Order of Excellence.

In May 2021, Lasha Talakhadze became the face of Crystalbet.

Biography

Lasha Talakhadze was born on October 2 1993 in Sachkhere (Georgia).

At the 2015 World Weightlifting Championships, he originally finished second with a total of 454 kg. When the champion Aleksey Lovchev failed a drug test, as a result Talakhadze became world champion. At the European Championships in Ferde, Norway, Talakhadze in total lifted 463 kg, became the European Champion, he also set a new European record in the snatch – 212 kg.

At the 2016 Olympics Talakhadze completed a snatch of 215 kg to break the world record for several minutes. He then completed in a third attempt  a clean & jerk of 258 kg to set a new world record total of 473 kg and  took the highest position on Olympic Pedestal.

At the Europe Championship in Croatia Talakhadze completed a snatch of 217 kg and set a new world record. At the 2017 World Weightlifting Championships in  Anaheim, United States, Talakhadze broke his own snatch record with 220 kg and set a new world record for the total with 477 kg.

At the World Championships in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, in 2018, Talakhaddze lifted 474 kg and set a new world record. At the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Talakhadze broke his own record, lifting: 223 in the snatch, 265 in the clean and jerk, in total 488 kg.
